How to unblock Adobe Flash on Chrome

You might have noticed that since Chrome’s last update you are now unable to use Adobe Flash.

However, there is a way to unblock Flash on Chrome.

To unblock Flash from Google Chrome, follow these steps:

  1. Open the menu in chrome, select Settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and select
  2. Expand site settings from within the privacy and security section, In the list of permissions you’ll see
  3. A recent update to chrome defaulted this to ‘blocked.’ If it is blocked click to enable flash content again.

This work-around is only a temporary measure as Adobe creeps ever-closer to implementing the end-of-life of Flash in 2020:

‘Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to new open formats.’

As a future-proof plan for the end-of-life of Flash, why not consider Squirrel—a brand new dashboarding tool and BI app that does not rely on Flash and which has been designed to encompass all the best bits of Xcelsius and much more.

Squirrel will be the most intuitive dashboarding tool to hit the market. With a fresh, clean-looking interface and code-free intelligence, it is easy to get up and running with Squirrel and to carry on where you left off in Xcelsius.

Key features of Squirrel:

  • Migration—Easily migrate your existing Xcelsius dashboard into Squirrel and work with a familiar interface.
  • Connectivity—Import your data from external sources or manually input straight into Squirrel. It’s easy.
  • Interactive—Build interactivity and logic into your dashboards, making them both functional and beautiful for your users.
  • Share—You will have the freedom to distribute your dashboards for free. There is no need to pay for consumer licenses.

Squirrel is reaching the beta stage of its development: key functionality is in, and testing is underway. The minimum viable product is due out at the end of December 2019.

Foundation customers have already signed up to Squirrel and gained access to early versions of the product. If you would like to learn more, the Squirrel team will be launching a product website where you can sign up to receive regular updates on project progress and even be part of the beta program. The beta program will allow you to get a bit more hands-on and collaborate with the Squirrel team.

We hope this article has been helpful in prolonging your use of Flash, as well as reassuring you that there is an alternative to Xcelsius: Squirrel is a great solution, enabling you to carry on where you left off.
